Abstract:
During annealing and transition to fct-L10 phase, the FePt nanocrystals join together so their size increase. In addition, the size distribution becomes broad and their shape change. The final diameter of L10-FePt nanoparticles after annealing at 600oC depends on their coating method on the substrate. In our proposed method, we gradually contact a colloidal solution of 2.5 nm FePt nanoparticles to the spinning SiO2/Si substrate. The experimental results and discussion about the mechanism of size control indicate that the final diameter of nanoparticles as a function of rotation speed of the substrate, has a minimum at 760rpm. In these conditions the average diameter of FePt nanoarticles after annealing at 600oC for 1h is 11nm with 1.93nm standard deviation.
