Abstract:
Most of the information dissemination is taking place through Web sites and Web portals. The effectiveness and efficiency with which information can be disseminated is very much dependent on the quality of the WEB site. The more the quality of a web site /portal, the more refined information can be made available to the user. Thus it becomes necessary to define quality and also determine the factors that measure the quality of web site. A quality factor should pin point to a particular aspect of the web site design. It is also important to define the kind of improvement that must be undertaken for improving quality of the web site from the point of view of a particular aspect. This paper is primarily focused on determining all important quality factors that can combined reflect the total quality as well as quality of a particular aspect of web site design. This paper also provides a base using which different kinds of improvements that should be made in order that the quality of the Web site will greatly be improved. Websites are part of our everyday life and are used to exchange and to convey information between user communities. Conveyed information comes in different types, languages and forms and incorporates text, images, sound, and video intended to inform, persuade, sell, present a viewpoint or even change an attitude or belief. Despite website proliferation, assessment of site quality remains a challenging area of research. Quality relates to customer satisfaction and also with the level of accomplishment of user expectation when interfacing a website.
