TEACHERS ATTITUDE TOWARDS STUDENTS WITH LEARNING DISABILITY

Abstract:
Abstract: The aim of this research is to determine the attitudes of primary school teachers towards students with learning disability. With the scale, which is prepared for this purpose, teachers recognition to spot these students, related studies, students social relations, problems that are created by the students in the classroom and their families attitudes towards the school, is determined. Participants are 14 teachers who are currently working in private primary school in Nicosia. Seven of these teachers are the class teacher and the rest them are English teachers. The research data were collected by semi-structured interview technique from qualitative research methods. The data, which are obtained from the search, is descriptively analysed. As a result, teachers recognition to spot these students, related studies, students social relations, problems that are created by the students in the classroom and their families attitudes towards the school may change. In some cases, positive and negative attitudes have been observed, these students may disturb classrooms atmosphere, and teachers find solutions such as extracurricular activities and individual attention for students with learning disability.
