There is few research on the political style of federal subject heads, which makes it necessary to consider this issue. The governor political role and governors\' participation changed due to the transformation of democratic model of power of the 90\'s into a vertical one. In this regard, the modern style of Russian governors\' political leadership was developing under the influence of some basic elements of the political system. The article highlights the main characteristic elements under the influence of which the political style of governorship is developed, such as institutionalization, professionalization, and others. The influence of these features is significant: in fact, the heads of the federal subjects are very limited in their political activities. The author examines the characteristic features within which the political style of the heads of the subjects of the federation is forced to form. These are rather difficult conditions that largely limit the emergence of true leaders, leaders in personal qualities and vocation
