MEASURING EFFECTIVENESS AND EFFICIENCY OF USE OF CREDIT IN HORTICULTURE (CASE IN VILLAGE FARMER SEMPAJAYA SUB DISTRICT BERASTAGI, KARO REGENCY NORTH SUMATERA PROVINCE - INDONESIA)

Abstract:
This research was conducted in the village of the District Sempajaya Berastagi Karo Regency determined based on the consideration that the study area is a horticultural production centers located in the District Berastagi Credit Union (CU) which provides loans / agricultural credit to farmers hortilkultura plants. The purpose of the study to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of credit received by the farmers of the village unit CU Merdeka Sempajaya with a sample of 34 people horticultural farmers who receive farm credit and 32 farmers who did not receive credit horticulture farming. In measuring the effectiveness of using a Likert scale that uses four indicators of effectiveness that is the right target, the right amount, timely, and appropriate, the result that use of agricultural credit CU Merdeka Sempajaya unit effective with the weighted average value for the four indicators of 2.89 , Farming efficiency is calculated by using the R/C ratio, the value of the benefit is smaller than one, and the value of farm efficiency horticultural farmers who do not use agricultural credit is greater than the cultivation of horticultural farmers using agricultural credit. With this research is expected to Credit Union (CU) in order to evaluate or correct the problems that occur in the achievement indicators for the effectiveness of the use of agricultural credit as the right target, the right amount, timely, appropriate and suggested to the farmers to utilize the loan / credit for farming in implemented in order to increase farm production which of course will positively impact the income of farmers concerned.
