Abstract:
A preliminary study was conducted to explore the possibility of contamination in the bottled drinking waters that are commercially available in Muscat region of Oman. The pH and EC values are approached the stipulated standards in some brands of drinking waters. The highest value of bicarbonate (210 mg/l) is observed from Tanuf compared to other brands. Similarly, the highest calcium concentration of 52 mg/l is noticed in elJabal elAkhdar. Total Hardness of 122.1mg/l is found from Salsabeel which is excess in concentration compared to its maximum limit given by Sultanate of Oman and WHO. A study on the chemical analysis of drinking waters is in progress.
