Assays Of Alternative Pre-Treatment To Remove Acacia Raddiana Savi (Fabaceae) Seed Dormancy Author(s): Amina HANNANI ,Samia BISSATIBOUAFIA-AbdelMadjid CHEHMA J. Ponte - Mar 2016 - Volume 72 - Issue 3 doi: 10.21506/j.ponte.2016.3.11 Abstract: Acacia raddiana is a sponteous rare tree of north Sahara, it is one of plant with a potential to improve soil fertility through nitrogen fixation. Which is important selection of adapted species to make revegetation in deteriorated soil and this is such important consideration in a revegetation project. Many of spontaneous plant in the desert Sahara of Algeria are hampered by a cutaneous inhibition of their seeds. The use of pretreatment for germination uniformity, improves the rate while reducing the time of germination, and it is essential in the context of restoration programs. The seeds of Acacia raddiana were collected from the region of Mguiden (Timimoun) of Kerzaz (Bechar), and Tamanrasset spread over areas north and south of the Sahara, during the years 2009 and 2013.The study of combined treatment appears to have a lively future, especially if we can translate our research into technologies that will reduce our dependence on synthetic product. Three category of treatment were used viz; a Physicalal treatment (coarse sand) used for its abrasive action on the seeds coat, a chemical treatment (H2SO4 98%) and solution of Capsicum used of their exothermic action with a range of dilution (25%,50%,75%).Finally a combined of both treatments. The results are promising, especially with the combined treatment between the sand and the Capsicum solution diluted to 25%, where the germination rate reached 60%. Indeed, this improvement is nearly to compare to the positive control.
The study of combined treatment appears to have a motivating future, especially if we can translate our research with technologies that will reduce our dependence on synthetic products.
