One of the most complicated issues in history of Iran is the succession crisis and the selection of official crown prince. In history of Iran, there were no rule and tradition for selection of successors and crown princes. Therefore, this issue caused serous crises and multiple civil wars. In the era of Fath-Ali Shah Qajar (1797- 1834) the issue of succession and his children�s oppositions against the selection of Abbas Mirza as the crown prince resulted in a lot of problems. This issue intensified with Russian and Britain interferences, Abbas Mirza�s death, and the selection of Mohammad Mirza as the crown princes. The present study is to investigate the succession crisis in Fath-Ali Shah�s period and its continuation to Mohammad Shah Qajar�s period. Findings indicate that frequent efforts of Fath-Ali Shah Qajar for solving the problem as peacefully as possible failed and after his death, his successors started fighting to seize the power. But consequently, European powers� interferences determined the results of those fights.
