The article touched upon the problem of formation a conceptual knowledge about the struggle. The purpose of the work was to study the complex structure of the concept �struggle�. Linguistic-cognitive approach to the concept allowed to uncover the mental unit of knowledge, as reflected in the historical and lexicographic sources. The study showed that the concept of "struggle" has a multi-layer structure consisting of a "passive layer", a "historical" layer, as well as the most relevant layer.
