TYPOLOGY OF SPECIAL LEXICAL UNITS IN LEXICAL-SEMANTIC FIELD "RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES" IN AMERICAN VARIANT OF ENGLISH

Abstract:
The present article shows typology of special lexical units in American variant of English (AmE) in lexical-semantic field "renewable energy sources". Structural analysis of special lexical units in the sphere of renewable sources of energy was made. Single component and multicomponent terminological units, acronyms, acronymous collocations, nomenclature units, preterminological units and occasionalisms in technical texts of AmE in the sphere of renewable sources of energy were studied. Formation of terminological system in the sphere of renewable sources of energy was identified on the base of data received about numeral dominance of special lexical units having traits of terminological units such as single component and multicomponent terms, acronyms, acronymous collocations and nomenclature units over preterminological units and occasionalisms having no traits of terminological units.
