Ponte - Apr 2017 - Volume 73 - Issue 4 doi: 10.21506/j.ponte.2017.4.51 Abstract: A technique is proposed for estimating the fracture toughness of short reinforced concrete beams when the shear span varies from 0.25 to 1.5 based on experimental data. It is proposed to calculate the fracture toughness along an inclined boundary crack that separates inclined compressed concrete strips and along a normal crack in the stretched zone.
