Abstract:
For this activity the participants (n=64) engineering students were divided into sixteen groups of four. Each group was required to attempt both tasks in the activity and the solutions were to be handed in to the lecturer. At the end of the activity the students had to complete a questionnaire which was also submitted to the lecturer. The data collected for this activity is made up of the students attempt of the tasks and the completion of the activity. The activity consisted of two tasks on Fourier series. The students were required to calculate the Fourier Coefficients and write down the Fourier series for each function given in the two tasks. The data generated from this activity generated some very positive findings and in terms of what the students were able to do successfully and some weaknesses were also observed.
