Abstract:
The objective of this study is to determine the groundwater quality and evaluate its suitability\\r\\nfor irrigation. 20 waters samples were collected from the region of Zegoum (Oued Souf) from\\r\\ndifferent locations of forages. Various water quality parameters like temperature, pH, EC, cations (Ca++, Mg++, Na+ , K+ ) and anions (Cl- , SO4 -2, HCO3 -, CO3 -2) have been calculated for each water sample. The groundwater samples are classified in two classes; C4S1 and C5S2.\\r\\nThe Calcium and sulfates concentrations of 50% of samples are more than the safe\\r\\npermissible limits proposed by FAO. The majority of samples do not exceed the permissible limits according to FAO (1996), for Cl- , Na+ and K+ .\\r\\nThe present study implies that the assessment of groundwater quality for irrigation is\\r\\nmediocre to bad quality
