Abstract:
Abstract The aim of this study was to determine the decision-making strategies and the locus of control levels of high school senior class students and to display whether there are significant differences between decision-making strategies and the locus of control levels of high school senior class students. Data was collected in an appropriate method for quantitative study and a survey model was used, which was a descriptive research method. A total of 838 students who were enrolled in the 12th grade of high school participated in the study. The “Decision- Making Strategies Scale” and the “Internal-External Locus of Control Scale” were employed. The data was evaluated with frequency-percentile, average and multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) tests. According to the findings, it was determined that the locus of control level was externally controlled for high school senior class students participating in this study. Furthermore, they employed the Rational Decision-Making Strategy, which is a subscale of decision-making strategies, more frequently than other strategies. Significant differences were identified in the scores received from the decision-making strategies according to the locus of control levels of the students. The research findings revealed a necessity to plan and conduct studies with students to help them to make their own decisions; this will be related to comprehensive information studies on decision-making and locus of control, which will be provided in schools. Keywords: Decision-making strategies, locus of control, high school senior class students.
