Abstract:
Studies on Meropidae ectoparasites are scarcely reported in Algeria. This paper aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the ectoparasites of Merops apiaster and M. persicus. Beekeepers captured the bee-eaters used in this survey in April 2018 using glue to protect their hives. The captured individuals were transported to the laboratory to collect ectoparasites. The 4 bee-eaters examined were infested as follows: 2 with Merops apiaster and 2 with M. persicus. 3 species of the ectoparasites found on individuals belong to the Meropidae family, namely Meromenopon meropis, Meropoecus meropis and Meropsiella erythropteri.
