Ponte - Apr 2017 - Volume 73 - Issue 4 doi: 10.21506/j.ponte.2017.4.56 Abstract: Spiritual and moral education is a set of forms, means, methods and principles that promote the growth of moral values, culture and social experience. In practice this means that universities strive to develop not only professional skills and competences, but also students spiritual interests, constructive and creative potential, and readiness for lifelong learning and self-development. The paper addresses the issues of a foreign language as one of the means to develop students spiritual and moral values. The process of learning a foreign language raises intercultural awareness, favors understanding, cultural tolerance and respect towards diversity, and promotes students spiritual growth.
