Ponte - Dec 2017 - Volume 73 - Issue 12 doi: 10.21506/j.ponte.2017.12.32 Abstract: Lettuces, grown all-year-round in the greenhouse, can be an example for the production of functional (health) foods. Research on the application of created humic fertilizer, enriched with iodine, was conducted with the cultivation of seven varieties of lettuce in greenhouses using drip irrigation system in LLC “Agricultural enterprise “Teplitsy Belogorya”. The concen-tration of iodine in lettuce leaves increased significantly in 10 – 25 times (p<0.001). The let-tuce was additionally increased with the contents of chlorophyll, vitamin C and mineral ele-ments. The levels of nitrates and heavy metals in products were significantly lower than MPC, that corresponds to the category of environmentally friendly products.
