Ponte - Dec 2018 - Volume 74 - Issue 12 doi: 10.21506/j.ponte.2018.12.16 Abstract: The purpose of this study is to identify the development of Civic Culture through the local wisdom value internalization of Saprahan of Sambas Malay Community. This can be done through internalization of formal and informal scopes of Sambas Malay Community which has an impact on strengthening national identity in accordance with the wisdom of local culture which is intensified to maintain the existence as a nation with community, culture and high civilization. The method of this study was ethnographic method in the setting of the Sambas Malay community consisting of public figures, religious leaders, youth figures, Malay traditional leaders and Sambas district government apparatus. The data collection and information in this study was carried out in various ways and techniques from various sources including observations-participations and open and in-depth interviews, FGD and documentation study. Data analysis techniques used in this study consist of three activities flows occur simultaneously, namely data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing/verification. Based on the finding that the Saprahan tradition contains noble values that are religious and socio-cultural, therefore Sambas Malay community has made efforts to the development of citizenship culture through value internalization oriented to culture and religion as well as characters that are held in the family, school and community control with traditional content and religious practice.
