EDUCATIONAL STRATEGIES TO BE ACQUIRED BY TEACHERS IN DEALING WITH ATTENTION DEFICIT AND HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER STUDENTS

Abstract:
ADHD is identified as a persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity merged with impulsivity that interferes with the functioning and development of individual. The term is in question becomes so serious when it affects the school life of the person negatively. To handle such situation, teachers should cooperate with families and attend special education strategy programs regarding children with ADHD. These programs include acquiring symptoms of ADHD, behavioral properties of such students, precautions those should be taken to avoid possible problems in school system and dealing with them effectively, using behavioral interventions such as; visual cues, hand gestures, reinforcement methods and symbolic reward system efficiently, behavioral modification methods to teach children how to manage their behaviors and improve the relationship with parents, and classroom accommodations to decrease the effects of distractors over their performance. This study aims to address these methods both independently and interdependently. To run the study the method, which is a type of qualitative research methods, called literature review was used. The collected data will be used to shed light on broader research and the application of these methods in schools.
