Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to explore the association between market values of Algerian listed companies and intangible assets that reported in their financial statements, in order to measure the explanatory power of intangible assets and determine their effect on the explanatory power of accounting information, which is expressed by the book value of equity. The study included all Algerian listed companies during the period of 2005 to 2013, depending on linear regression and Ohlsons (1995) model. The results indicate that book values of Algerian listed companies are not value relevant. However, intangible assets are value relevant, but they do not affect the value relevance of book values. Key words: Value relevance of accounting information, Intangible assets, Market value of Company, Book value of equity, Algerian listed companies
