DETERMINATION THE OPINIONS OF TEACHER CANDIDATES TOWARDS THE EFFECTS OF SMART PHONES ON THEIR SOCIAL LIVES Author(s): Semih Caliskan ,Huseyin Bicen J. Ponte - Sep 2017 - Volume 73 - Issue 9 doi: 10.21506/j.ponte.2017.9.21 Abstract: The aim of this research is to determine the opinions of teacher candidates towards the effects of smart phones on their social lives. A descriptive survey design was chosen to collect the data in this study Study group of the research consisted of 105 teacher candidates studying in Special Education Department and Hearing Impaired Department, Atatu?rk Education Faculty, Near East University. 5 Likert Scale was developed by the authors and applied online to the study group in 2016-2017 Spring Term. The data obtained from the scales were analysed by utilizing SPSS 21. In the analysis of the data, percentages, frequencies, means and standard deviations, maximum and minimum values were calculated. According to the research results, smart phones have high impact on students� social lives. It was also stated that online shopping, online bill payment, chatting, taking photos and sharing via smart phones make the students feel better in their social lives.
