COSTA RICA: VISUALIZATION OF THE MOVEMENTS OF THE EARTH'S CRUST Author(s): Jorge Monge Fallas ,Franklin Hernandez Castro, Maikel Mendez Morales, David Segura Solis J. Ponte - Apr 2019 - Volume 75 - Issue 4 doi: 10.21506/j.ponte.2019.4.1 Abstract: This article describes “geoTraffic”, a visualization tool that visualizes a year of seismic movements in the crust of Costa Rica. For this work, we took as reference the year 2014 whose information was obtained by more than 50 GPS stations of the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI). We made a three-dimensional animation of how the country's surface was moved. Although this kind of animation is not usual, it shows essential relationships between the seismical activity, which otherwise, (with the conventional way used by the scientist) would be much more difficult to see. The whole project was developed together with the OVSICORI scientists, who not only generated the data but also accompanied the design of the interface until the end.
