INTERNET BANKING ADOPTION IN NORTHERN CYPRUS: ADOPTERS VERSUS NON-ADOPTERS Author(s): Berna Serener J. Ponte - Jan 2017 - Volume 73 - Issue 1 doi: 10.21506/j.ponte.2017.1.11 Abstract: The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors affecting internet banking usage in Northern Cyprus. From a survey involving 503 respondents, we found that customer perceived risk was the most important factor affecting the adoption of internet banking. Perceived usefulness was the second most important factor, which was followed, to a lesser degree of importance, by trust in a bank and information on internet banking. Specifically, our results revealed that users of internet banking perceived internet banking as less risky, trusted their bank more, found internet banking more useful, and had more information on internet banking compared to those who had not adopted internet banking. Lastly, the adopters were more comfortable using the internet compared to those not using internet banking.
