PERCEIVED ORGANISATION SUPPORT: APPLYING MINDFUL WORK PRATICES AND ERADICATING EMPLOYEE DEHUMANISATION IN THE WORKPLACE Author(s): Sanjana Brijball Parumasur ,Mbalenhle Bridget Dlamini J. Ponte - Apr 2020 - Volume 76 - Issue 4 doi: 10.21506/j.ponte.2020.4.10 Abstract: This study assesses academics perceptions regarding the extent to which the organisation values and cares for them. Inter correlations amongst sub-dimensions of perceived organisational support, biographical correlates and perceptions of the dimension are based on inferential and descriptive statistics. The sample comprised of academics from the four colleges at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and was drawn using cluster sampling. The expected sample was 292 and the sample that was achieved was a 262 using. Data was collected using a questionnaire whose psychometric properties of validity and reliability were statistically assessed using Factor Analysis and Cronbach's Alpha respectively. It is evident that the greatest level of improvement is needed in perceived organisational support as it has the lowest mean score value (Mean = 2.858). Perceived organisational support assesses employees perceptions of various aspects of support from their organisation. The study also shows that there is a significant difference in the perceived organisational support of academics varying in biographical profiles (age, marital status, position, tenure, gender) and college respectively.
