Abstract:
The objective of our research is to evaluate the antioxidant activitiy of leaves aqueous extract of Malva Sylvestris (M Sylvestris).
The investigation of the in vitro antioxidant activity was carried out by DPPH, OH and H2O2 radical scavenging, Ferrous ion chelating, Ferric reducing power, total antioxidant capacity.
Total phenolic content has been found at (153.02 2.88 mg GAE/g). The extract displayed significant scavenging activity of some radicals such as DPPH (IC50 5.85 0.695 g/ ml), OH (IC50 = 880.64 13.25 g/ml), H2O2 (IC50= 51.64 03.65 g/ml) and showed a good antioxidant activity through ferrous ion chelating activity (IC50 = 59.845 0.801 g/ml), ferric reducing power (IC50=66.17 1.03 g/ml), total antioxidant capacity (IC50 348.357 6.03 ?g/ml).
Malva Sylvestris aqueous extract can be used to prevent oxidative processes.
Key words: Malva Sylvestris, ferric reducing, chelating activity, DPPH, radical scavenging, total antioxidant.
